About Us
Lingotise was founded in October 2013 by Aidan Edwards and his Mother, Anne Marie. As an EAL co-ordinator, Anne Marie saw there was a real need to shake up the way in which EAL is taught in schools across the UK. Meanwhile, Aidan was delivering drama workshops in schools throughout Leeds as part of his study of Theatre & Performance, and found this an effective way to aid learning.
Why use drama?
Drama is a useful teaching tool, particularly for language development. It offers a release from the constraints of sitting behind a desk for a lesson. Drama facilitates communication, giving the students the necessary practice with real words and the opportunity to experiment with language. It has been proven to enhance cognitive skills, such as self-esteem, motivation and empathy. Most importantly, however, is that it is fun! It offers a safe environment for students to explore the English language and to enjoy themselves in the process.
What do you offer?
Lingotise offers a number of resources to the EAL teacher, including warm up activities, scripts, role play ideas and lots more.
We also offer a number of products, including the high demand ‘Learning Packs’, which include a range of props, worksheets, scripts and much more.
The first Lingotise workshop was delivered in December 2013 and we are now taking bookings for 2014! Just visit the Book a Workshop page to find out more.
